Netflix CEO Has No Fear - Publishes Talent Acquisition Strategy in the Public View

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings releases his company's take on a values & culture "manual" which leaves nothing up to the imagination.

Details include their "rockstars only" hiring policy, a policy of no vacation policy, and guidelines and methodology behind a culture of of autonomy, responsibility and effectiveness.

Love to see more companies trash the corporate BS mission statements and get real.

Hastings, you are my new hero!

Seems like a nice corporate culture, everything out in the open. Hopefully it stays that way and it works for them.

Unfortunately the way this is implemented has created a total mess. The employees refer to it as a "culture of fear". There is no objective performance measurement system, and there is a close to 25% turnover rate, so nobody knows if they actually are a rock star and most people fear for their jobs. The true rock stars leave pretty quickly because of all the chaos and what remains are average employees that are REALLY good at sucking up. In this sense the culture has resulted in poor performance (if you follow the outages the streaming service has encountered you would know what I mean).
